How do I throw away my cell phone? Not donate or recycle, THROW AWAY!?
I have two cell phones that do not work at all and can’t be repaired. How do I throw them away? I know you can’t just put them in the trash as they may leach toxins into soil. How do I get rid of them. I live in Arlington, VA if that makes any difference.

The cell phones are not a problem – it’s the batteries that can leak toxic substances. Most county disposal centers have a battery disposal center for everything from AA’s to car batteries. Call your local landfill or garbage service and ask if they have somewhere to properly dispose of batteries.
